Roof Washing

Roof washing? Who's ever heard of that?

Here at rocket wash we treat asphalt shingle roofs with a 6% sodium hypochlorite (SH) solution, that is chlorine bleach. The purpose of such a treatment is to kill all the organics on your roof surface- algae, moss, fungi, etc.- without damaging the integrity of the shingles. We apply the SH with a high quality surfactant that reduces the surfaces tension of the SH allowing it to stick to the surface for longer. After a treatment of SH on a roof surface you can expect moss to stay off your roof for a minimum of two years after treatment.

For roofs with "carpets" of moss we remove the moss with a medium stiffness nylon brush. Once the roof is clear of larger pieces of moss we blow it off and continue to ensure that smaller clumps of moss are addressed as well. Once this is blown off too we proceed to cleaning out the gutters and flushing the downspouts to make sure that the building's gutter system is operating optimally. Finally at this point, with the major debris and moss removed and the gutter system cleaned, we treat the roof with our SH. This kills the underlying algae that moss feeds on and keeps the moss off for longer.

Don't worry, once we come down off the roof we will clean up any messes that were made on the ground and haul off the removed debris. Clean up is part of the job. End of story.
